“Stop Fighting It – Exercise, Lose Weight!”
Exercise, lose weight. Do you see the connection? Most people don’t see the connection. They would rather continue to look for weight loss in a bottle. Are Americans that stupid?
Time and time again it’s been proven that diet and exercise is the only thing that will work in the crusade against fat. So why don’t we believe it? Denial runs deep in our society. We don’t believe what’s right in front of our noses – even when it’s in neon letters.
The Truth is Painful
You know the saying, “The truth shall set you free?” Well, the saying is true, but first, it will piss you off – big time. Nobody wants to hear the phrase, “exercise, lose weight.” They don’t wish to acknowledge the truth of this phrase. Deep in our hearts we know that there is no other way to lose weight other than to exercise and eat right.
If weight loss could be found in a pill, it would have been discovered long ago. In addition, the person or persons who would have discovered this marvel pill would be billionaires. Yes, diet pills are expensive but can you imagine if they really found a pill that magically made you lose weight without having to exercise or diet? What do you think they would charge for this pill? I imagine these pills would go for at least $50,000.
Want to Lose Weight? Exercise!
Even if you eat right, meaning incorporating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and lean protein in your diet, if you do not exercise, your weight loss efforts will be stagnated. Don’t ask me why, it’s just that way! Well, actually, I do know why. Exercise increases your metabolism. Contrary to popular belief (here comes the denial again), implementing a low calorie diet to lose weight does not work.
Why don’t low calorie diets work? They don’t work because when you don’t consume enough calories your body believes it is going into starvation mode. Once it goes into starvation mode, nature provides a mechanism for the body to survive. Your body then starts to hold on to whatever fat you have on your body to conserve energy because it believes you are going through a famine. Actually, you are subjecting your body to a type of famine when you severely restrict your caloric intake. Mother Nature knew what she was doing when she constructed the human body.
Speed Up Your Metabolism
So we come back to the same equation – exercise, lose weight. There’s no getting around it. When you exercise, you speed up your metabolism, which is the main factor in weight loss. Lifting weights is another excellent way to lose weight. Why? Muscle burns fat.
By incorporating the use of free weights in your workout plan, you not only lose weight faster, but you become lean, tone and tight. Exercising with weights needn’t be difficult either. A simple 5 pound weight to start with is all that’s needed to start building muscle. Use 5 pound weights to do simple bicep exercises and watch your weight loss efforts take off! Remember, there’s no such thing as something for nothing.
